2026 projects – Sports and leisure activities in KIA prison

The project

We will host volunteers at KIA (Korrektie Instituut Aruba) the national correctional institution of Aruba, or Point Blanche prison (Sint Maarten). Volunteers will have the opportunity to support sports, leisure, educational, and non-formal learning activities that contribute to the well-being, personal development, and social inclusion of inmates.

Volunteers will organize and facilitate a variety of activities, including sports sessions, recreational games, creative workshops, and other non-formal educational programmes. They will work with different groups within the institution, encouraging participation, teamwork, communication, healthy lifestyles, and positive use of free time. Volunteers are also encouraged to bring their own ideas, skills, and interests to create engaging activities that motivate participants and foster a positive environment.

The role offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in social inclusion, non-formal education, community development, and rehabilitation work. Volunteers will be involved in the daily activities of the project and will contribute to creating meaningful opportunities for learning, recreation, and personal growth within the institution.
