Tur Cos Ta Posibel SXM is a Caribbean-based foundation established in Sint Maarten in 2026, building on the experience of Tur Cos Ta Posibel in Aruba, founded in 2019.
We believe that people deprived of liberty should have access to opportunities to learn, contribute and remain connected to their communities.
Through non-formal learning, solidarity and volunteering, we work alongside correctional institutions, local organisations and international partners to create meaningful opportunities during incarceration and beyond.
Our work is rooted in Sint Maarten and Aruba, while contributing to wider cooperation across the Caribbean and European overseas territories.
What we do
Our work is built around five key commitments:
Investing in people
We create opportunities for people deprived of liberty to develop skills, confidence and experience through non-formal learning, volunteering and solidarity activities.
Supporting reintegration
We aim to contribute to reducing recidivism by opening pathways to opportunities during and after incarceration.
Promoting inclusion
We advocate for people deprived of liberty to be included in mainstream programmes and opportunities in which they have traditionally been under-represented.
Connecting local opportunities internationally
We support local organisations in developing international opportunities and partnerships that can benefit this target group.
Correction over punishment
We work alongside correctional institutions to promote approaches centred on rehabilitation, personal development and successful reintegration into the community.
Working with UNODC
Tur Cos Ta Posibel is proud to work with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to advance innovative approaches to the social reintegration of people incarcerated in Sint Maarten.
As custodian of the United Nations Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners – the Nelson Mandela Rules – UNODC works to strengthen connections between prisons and communities.
This partnership reflects the principle at the heart of Rule 88: people in prison should not be excluded from their communities, but recognised as continuing to be part of them.
Through solidarity, volunteering and non-formal education, activities including sports, music, cooking, arts and reading provide opportunities to learn, participate and connect.
A particularly innovative aspect of this work is the involvement of people incarcerated as volunteers themselves, enabling them to develop skills while providing positive peer support to others.
The partnership also encourages mutual learning between Aruba and Sint Maarten and contributes to developing and sharing promising Caribbean practices in prison reform.

V.O.I.S. – Vision of Inclusion & Solidarity
Point Blanche Prison & MLC Youth Detention Center · 6–20 June 2026
Tur Cos Ta Posibel’s first European Solidarity Corps team project in Sint Maarten brought international volunteers and local participants together at Point Blanche Prison and MLC Youth Detention Center for two weeks of music, photography, cooking, arts, sports and shared learning. The project culminated in an exhibition and performance celebrating participants’ creativity, skills and connections.
Under the Hood

A longer-term initiative bringing together international volunteers and volunteer participants from Point Blanche and the Miss Lalie Centre.
Designed with participants rather than simply for them, Under the Hood creates space for participants to develop their own activities and ideas – from newsletters and reading to creative and solidarity-based initiatives.

Building on the first edition, Under the Hood II will bring a new group of international and local volunteers together and give participants the opportunity to shape their own programme, activities and ideas.
Turing Scheme placements
Point Blanche · 2026
International mobility also plays an important role in our work. Through Turing Scheme placements, international trainees have the opportunity to contribute to activities at Point Blanche while gaining meaningful professional and intercultural experience in Sint Maarten.
From Aruba to Sint Maarten
Tur Cos Ta Posibel was founded in Aruba in 2019 and expanded its presence to Sint Maarten in 2026.
Across both islands, we believe in the power of solidarity, international cooperation and non-formal learning to create opportunities where they are needed most.
Our work in Sint Maarten builds on this Caribbean experience while developing new approaches with local institutions, communities, volunteers and international partners.
Together, we want to demonstrate what becomes possible when people are given opportunities not only to participate, but to contribute.
