Coffee With Garlic: Empowering Youth Workers for Greater Inclusion

We are delighted to introduce Coffee With Garlic, an Erasmus+-funded youth worker seminar taking place in Aruba from January 15–22, 2025. This innovative project brings together youth workers from Aruba, Croatia, French Guiana, Greece, Italy, Saint Maarten, Serbia, and Spain to collaborate on making international mobility opportunities more inclusive and accessible for young people with fewer opportunities.

The seminar addresses a critical challenge in international youth work: the barriers that prevent many young people, particularly those facing significant obstacles, from participating in Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps programs. By focusing on inclusion, Coffee With Garlic aims to:

  • Increase awareness of the impact of culture shock and fear of the unknown on young people with fewer opportunities.
  • Develop innovative tools and strategies to break down barriers to participation.
  • Build strong partnerships between organizations to create inclusive mobility projects for the future.
Co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union

Throughout the week, participants will exchange best practices in youth work, engage in discussions on inclusion strategies, and visit local organizations in Aruba that support young people facing barriers. These experiences will not only deepen participants’ understanding of inclusion but also inspire new approaches to supporting young people in accessing international opportunities.

Coffee With Garlic is more than a seminar—it’s a step towards reshaping the way we support young people in overcoming barriers and embracing global experiences. We look forward to the exciting ideas, partnerships, and projects that will emerge from this collaboration!
