Sint Maarten | 3rd August – 30th September 2026
In partnership with UNODC and co-funded by the European Solidarity Corps, we have an opportunity for five people aged 18–30 to take part in this two-month TEAM solidarity project.
Applicants may be Point Blanche or MLC detainees, or volunteers from eligible European countries. Together, you will work on a project that benefits the wider prison population.
‘Beneath the Cover’ recognises that many incarcerated individuals have another story beyond the one for which they received a sentence—a story that can shape their future.
We created this project to give participants the opportunity to tell that story through photography, poetry and the written word.
A new life journey may officially begin on the day a detainee is released, but it can also begin much earlier, as soon as someone develops a vision for change.
At Tur Cos Ta Posibel, we believe that many people decide to build a different future while they are still in prison. We want to be part of that journey by helping detainees create wider opportunities for themselves after release.
Every day, volunteers will share their existing skills while developing new ones. Together, this core team will design and deliver activities for the wider prison population, giving others the tools and confidence to help shape their future.
Our current ambition is to write a book, by and about inmates, which we hope to publish and sell. Any proceeds will be shared between those involved.
Throughout the project, volunteers will have the opportunity to develop skills in:
- Photography
- Artistic activities
- Creative expression workshops
- Spoken word
- Poetry
- …and perhaps even more. Let’s discover the skills you have to share!
During these two months, we will also create a book club and a film club.
What you’ll gain
- €7 per day pocket money
- The opportunity to share your skills and develop new ones
- The chance to influence prison activities planned for the coming year
- The opportunity to have your voice heard
Interested? Here’s what to do next.
Ask for an application form. If you need help completing it, don’t worry—someone will be happy to assist you.
Tell us why you would like to volunteer on Beneath the Cover, what you hope to gain from the project, and what you feel you can contribute.
Timeline
- 17th July – Application deadline
- UNODC will collect all applications and share them with us.
- 27th July – Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed.
- 3rd August – The project begins.
If you are not selected for the core volunteer team, don’t worry. You will still be able to take part in the weekly activities delivered throughout the two-month project.
If this first edition is successful, we hope to launch a second edition in October.
Thank you for your interest.
