The project
The project takes place at the Korrektie Instituut Aruba (KIA), the national prison where volunteers lead creative art sessions for inmates. Each session offers space to paint, draw, craft, or experiment with various materials and techniques. The goal is to bring imagination and teamwork into an environment where daily life often lacks color and creativity.
During orientation, volunteers visit departments to find the best match between their skills and the groups they will work with. Together with inmates, they plan and carry out small creative projects, encouraging expression, practical skills, and the satisfaction of creating something with their own hands.
The project promotes inclusion, empathy, and self-expression, using art as a tool for rehabilitation, confidence-building, and developing social and emotional skills among participants.
For the project, volunteers need to be β¦

- 23 years +
- Lead engaging, hands-on sessions with inmates
